چکیده

Haemadipsid leeches are ubiquitous inhabitants of tropical and sub-tropical forests in the Indo-Pacific region. They increasingly used as indicator taxa for biomonitoring, yet very little is known about their basic ecology. For example, to date no study has assessed occurrence distribution haemadipsid across naturally occurring gradients within intact habitats. We analyzed a long-term data set (2012–2020) on closely related tiger (Haemadipsa picta) brown spp.) leech species investigate if how abiotic biotic factors influence gradient forest types at an undisturbed rainforest site Indonesian Borneo. compared series negative binomial mixed models found that, factors, soil moisture had largest positive effect encounter rates both species. Among type differential effects counts two species: while were greater low elevation types, high types. Additionally, we that presence one other Finally, our results show narrower distribution, being restricted lower with higher water retention, suggesting could be more sensitive levels. Abiotic and biotic elicitors’ effects on secondary metabolites biosynthesis of periwinkle (Catharanthus roseus (Linn.) G. Don)

Based on recent statistical survey, the cancer is the third important factor in Iran mortality. Vinblastine and vincristine alkaloids are dominantly biosynthesized in the aerial parts of periwinkle, broadly applied for cancer treatment. Therefore, over production of these alkaloids by using the biotechnological approaches is inevitable. Since the terpenoid indole alkaloids (TIAS) biosynthesis p...

Plasmodium knowlesi in Human, Indonesian Borneo

Plasmodium knowlesi is now established as the fifth Plasmodium species to cause malaria in humans. We describe a case of P. knowlesi infection acquired in Indonesian Borneo that was imported into Australia. Clinicians need to consider this diagnosis in a patient who has acquired malaria in forest areas of Southeast Asia.

Improvement of lignans production in hairy root culture of Linum mucronatum using abiotic and biotic elicitors .

Elicitors could be used as the enhancer of plant secondary-metabolite synthesis and could play an important role in biosynthetic pathways of important medicinal compounds. The present study investigated the effect of abiotic elicitor (fungal extract of Fusarium graminearum) and two abiotic elicitors (methyl jasmonate and salicylic acid) at different concentrations in 18- and 30-day-old cultures...
